PropFact (“we”, “us”) runs propfact.com.au, the free course, the data tools and our buyer services. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
You can read the site, watch the first three course videos and see the plans without telling us who you are. Our hosting provider processes your IP address and basic request details to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers.
Your subscription status and billing history. Card details are collected and held by our payment provider, not by us; we see only a reference and the last digits of the card.
Your name, email address, the time you choose, and anything you tell us in the booking questions, such as your budget, where you are looking and your finance status.
To do the work, we collect what the purchase needs: your contact details, your goals and brief, your budget and finance pre-approval, the properties you are considering, your offers, and the details of the people you engage, such as your broker and conveyancer. Some of this is financial information, and we handle it with particular care. For Plan 3, our licensed partner agency collects and holds the information it needs to act for you, under its own privacy obligations.
You do not have to give us information, but without it we may not be able to create your account or provide a plan. If you deal with us without an account, for example to ask a question by email, you can do so under a pseudonym.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for any other purpose unless you agree or the law allows or requires it.
Some of our providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and in other countries where they run data centres. We choose providers with strong security practices and take reasonable steps to make sure they handle your information in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
We keep account information while your account is open. Plan 2 and Plan 3 client records, and payment records, are kept for as long as tax and other laws require, usually seven years. Sign in attempt records are kept only briefly. When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove anything that identifies you.
We send the emails your account needs, such as confirmation and password reset links, and receipts if you pay. With a free account, we also email you when a new course video is released, and nothing else. Every one of those emails has a one click unsubscribe.
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to close your account and delete it. Email hello@propfact.com.au from the address on your account. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to keep some records where the law requires it, and we will tell you if so.
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email hello@propfact.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
We may update this policy as our services change. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will email you before it takes effect.
